This program focus on the geographic theories and concepts that help us understand spatial patterns of land use and human activity, especially in large and small urban settings. These courses introduce the importance of social and demographic issues for understanding spatial behavior and spatial distributions. If a career in city, town, or even regional planning or consulting is anticipated, this sequence should include an internship to provide critical experience. This sequence also prepares students for careers in market analysis and location analysis.

International students are selected for admission based on a review of their academic success in their previous education and scores achieved on the SAT and either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS). All international applicants whose first language is not English must submit official TOEFL and/or IELTS scores. For students whose primary language is not English, the TOEFL or IELTS can be a valuable supplement to the application. The minimum score for the TOEFL is 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (Internet-based) or a minimum score of 6.5 for IELTS. All academic credentials not written in English must be accompanied by official, certified English translations.

Students can apply through online application for admission along with the following supporting documents; $70 non-refundable application fee, Official transcripts from all high schools and/or colleges attended are required, whether or not credit is desired or expected. It is preferred that students include their official transcripts in their packet of supporting materials. Transcripts must be in a sealed envelope from the institution. If their transcripts are not included in their packet, they must be sent directly from each institution to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. SAT or ACT scores must be sent to UConn directly from the appropriate testing service or be posted on their official high school transcript. Although optional, letters of recommendation are encouraged as they may enhance a freshman applicant's candidacy. Recommendation letters are limited to a maximum of two per person. UConn does not require a special recommendation form. All international applicants whose first language is not English must submit official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores. TOEFL or IELTS tests can also be a valuable supplement to the application for enrollment for those for whom English has not been their primary language.
